Our mission:

Make the ‘Gate great!

How:

Better alumni participation by allowing

Maroon News editorial: A Better Colgate

2010-2011 tuition and fees have gone up only 2.2%, Colgate's lowest increase in 30 years.

College Rankings:  Colgate fell again this year from 19 to 21 in the rankings by U.S. News & World Report of Best Liberal Colleges. Forbes ranks Colgate 37th after schools such as Williams, Amherst, Haverford, Carleton, Swarthmore, Colby, Pomona College, Colorado College, Bates and Wesleyan.

Denis Cronin selected new chairman of the Board of Trustees; Robert Kindler selected as vice chairman.  In response to our calls for greater transparency, and after A Better Colgate presented a petition signed by more than 1,600 alumni to the Trustees asking for open election by alumni of a meaningful number of trustees, Colgate now posts on its website the background on the trustees and an explanation of the current process for selecting the board. Minutes of the board meetings are sanitized and only available approximately six months after each meeting in the Case Library on campus.

The Board of Trustees has not yet warmed to the idea of allowing alumni to vote on some of the policy-makers for Colgate.  But, it has signaled a willingness to consider nominations to its Board from the Colgate community, although the slate continues to be determined in secret by the Nominating Committee and unanimously approved by the Trustees at its June meeting.
